Attappadi Reserve Forest

Attappadi Reserve Forest is a protected area covering 249 Sq Km of land of Mannarghat Taluk in Palakkad district of Kerala, India.  Bordered in the east by Coimbatore district, west by the Nilgiri Hills, South by Palghat taluk and on the west by Mannarghat taluk, this Attappadi village is an extensive mountain valley.

Naranath Branthan  (The madman of  Naranam ) is a character in  Malayalam  folklore. He was considered to be a divine person, a  Mukhta  who pretended to be mad. His chief activity consisted of rolling a big stone up a hill and then letting it fall back down. Unlike  Sisyphus , he acted on his own volition rather than under the influence of a curse. There is a large statue of Naranath in Pattambi,  Palakkad  district of Kerala where he is believed to have lived. Naranathu was born as the son of  Vararuchi , the famous  astrologer  who adorned the court of  Vikrama . Illikal Kallu  is a major tourist attraction spot in Moonnilavu Village,  Meenachil  taluk,  Kottayam  district of  Kerala , India. Situated about 6000 feet above sea level, it is also one of the highest peak in the  Western ghats . Illikal Kallu is a rock situated above Illikal Mala. The thing that makes this rock unique is that half of the rock has fallen off, and only the other half remains. The nearest city is  Teekoy .
