Hill Palace, Tripunithura

Hill Palace is the largest archaeological museum in Kerala, located at Tripunithura, Kochi, near Karingachira area. It was the Imperial Administrative offices and official residence of Cochin Maharaja. Built in 1865, the Palace complex consists of 49 buildings in the traditional architectural style, spreading across in 54 acres (220,000 m2). The complex has an archaeological museum, a heritagemuseum, a deer park, a pre-historic park and a children’s park. The campus of the museum is home to several rare species of medicinal plants. Presently the palace has been converted into a museum by The Kerala State Archaeology Department and is open to public all days except Mondays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The palace is about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from the city centre and is approachable by road and rail.

Naranathu Brandan Hills

Naranath Branthan  (The madman of  Naranam ) is a character in  Malayalam  folklore. He was considered to be a divine person, a  Mukhta  who pretended to be mad. His chief activity consisted of rolling a big stone up a hill and then letting it fall back down. Unlike  Sisyphus , he acted on his own volition rather than under the influence of a curse. There is a large statue of Naranath in Pattambi,  Palakkad  district of Kerala where he is believed to have lived. Naranathu was born as the son of  Vararuchi , the famous  astrologer  who adorned the court of  Vikrama . Naranathu was one among the twelve offsprings or the  Parayi petta panthirukulam (12 children born from the  Pariah  woman), of  Vararuchi  and was brought up in the  Naranathu Mangalathu Mana , situated at  Chethallur  in  Palakkad .
